Election of the Representative Committee of the Board of Directors of the Vietnamese American Community of Tarrant County Term 2026โ2029
In accordance with the current Bylaws, the Election Committee (EC) for the Representative Committee (RC) of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Vietnamese American Community of Tarrant County (Community) respectfully announces the following key information regarding the upcoming election for the RC/BOD/Community.
๐๏ธ DATE & LOCATION
The official voting day is February 28, 2026, during the Annual Community Assembly. Voting hours will be determined and announced by the EC.
The Annual Community Assembly and official voting will take place at: Community Activity Center 2117 Roosevelt Drive Dalworthington Gardens, TX 76013
๐งพ CANDIDACY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the Representative Committee must meet the following criteria:
Be at least 21 years old
Reside in Tarrant County or surrounding areas, including North Texas, for at least 6 months
Be an Official Member of the Community:
Of Vietnamese descent or married to someone of Vietnamese descent
Not support communism, fascism, or terrorism
Support the Yellow Flag with Three Red Stripes and the stance of Vietnamese political refugees
Support and comply with the Communityโs Mission and Bylaws
Be registered with the Community
Comply with all EC election rules
Attend candidate forums hosted by the EC.
Submit a candidacy application no later than January 16, 2026
๐ Candidates must run individually, but the Bylaws do not prohibit campaigning as a slate.
๐ณ๏ธ ELECTION RULES & PROCEDURES
The EC will place ballot boxes at the official voting site during the designated hours (to be announced)
Voting is by individual candidacy, direct and confidential
Voters must be Official Members of the Community:
Official Members are those registered with the Community
Unregistered individuals may register on-site
At the polling site, Official Members will sign the voter list and receive a ballot
Voters will use ink pens to select four (4) candidates from the ballot
Ballots will be folded and placed into a sealed ballot box
The EC will number both the ballot stub and the ballot to ensure transparency
The EC will retain the stub; the ballot will be placed in the box by the voter
Ballot boxes will only be opened and counted at a pre-announced time in the presence of candidates, observers, and media
The four (4) candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected to the RC/BOD/Community
Election results will be announced at the Annual Community Assembly on February 28, 2026
If there are only four (4) candidates, the election will proceed as a vote of confidence and all four will be elected
If there are no candidates, the current BOD will nominate four (4) individuals, and the election will proceed as a vote of confidence. All four nominees will be elected
๐๏ธ STRUCTURE & FORMATION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The BOD consists of 9 members: 4 Representative Directors and 5 Managing Directors
The 4 Representative Directors (collectively the Representative Committee) are elected by Official Members of the Community
The 5 Managing Directors (collectively the Managing Committee) are appointed by the Representative Committee with a 2/3 vote
Representative Members are elected individually, directly, and confidentially
The four (4) candidates with the most votes will be elected to the Representative Committee
Only Representative Members may serve as Chairman, Vice Chairman of Internal Affairs, Vice Chairman of External Affairs, and General Secretary of the BOD
After the election, the new Representative Directors will meet with the Managing Directors to elect officers from among the Representatives
Terms:
Representative Members: 3 years, limited to 2 consecutive terms
Managing Members: 3 years, no term limit
These requirements are set by current Community Bylaws. The responsibility of the EC is to organize a transparent and accurate election in accordance with these Bylaws. The success of the 2026โ2029 RC/BOD/Community election depends on the support of the fellow community members. We respectfully seek your enthusiastic participation and support.
